Mission


The LaunchPad Bike Shop Semi-Autonomous Working Group's Mission is to serve NorthWest Oakland's alternative transportation needs, to provide training, assistance and materials at low cost or free, to help keep people moving without using expensive and environmentally unfriendly fossil fuels.

LaunchPad SAWGs (Semi-Autonomous Working Groups) each operate as an independent unit with its own mandate, co-anchors and mode of operation. Each SAWG is represented on the LaunchPad Council, which sets broad LaunchPad policy on a censensus basis.



Bike Classes

Launchpad bike shop staff are also teaching workshops through LaunchPad's Education SAWG.
Paul teaches Basic Bicycle Maintenance on Saturday, May 27, at 1pm, 25$
Bill shows you how to Build Your Own Bicycle Cart on  Saturday, June 24 at noon, 30$

LaunchPad Bike Shop           

Open to the public:  Saturdays, 12 noon to 4 pm 

Need a part? Want to help fix someone’s bike? Want to understand your bike better? Donate bike parts? Come to the LaunchPad bike kitchen. 

People who want to fix their own bikes and need a little extra know-how and tools, and people who just want to have their bike fixed can to come to the LaunchPad bike shop Saturdays, noon to 4 pm.

Volunteer: bike mechanics and teachers, and even those with a little knowledge and a will to learn and help, are invited to contact us at bikeshop@l-pad.com. or just come to our workday and introduce yourself. We're working on a plan to expand hours, so nows a great time!

Wish list: some more tools & parts (esp tubes & patch kits), a more complete wishlist, secure tool storage space.
