How can I get Involved?
If you would like to teach a new or existing class, volunteer to support one of LaunchPad's existing projects, or hold an event, please contact the appropriate project coordinator. Currently several SAWGs, including Education and Shop, are looking for new co-anchors.
If you'd like to propose a new project, you may do so in person as a guest at a board meeting or on the members' discussion list or by contacting the Director, John Voldal.
If you'd like to make a charitable donation, please contact our Finance Mgr, Hannah Sorensen. For donations of materials, please contact the appropriate project coordinator or the Director.
There are several ways to rent space at LaunchPad. Studios, bedrooms, shared space in the big workspace can be rented by the month. Practice-, event-, class-, & meeting-space can be rented by the month or by the hour. sometimes space is sponsored.

We are collecting testimonials, anecdotes and feedback in our new guestbook..
LaunchPad Council
LaunchPad's Director convenes its Council, which meets to decide policy and approve projects, or Semi-Autonomous Working Groups. All project coordinators (AKA bottom-liners) have the right to cast their vote on the board, and only they have earned that right. Council decisions are by consensus, except where a democratic vote is required by bylaws (which means voting by dept, ie each working group gets one vote)
Semi-Autonomus Working Groups
Once a project has gotten the green light from the Council, its anchor/coordinator/bottom-liner is appointed by the director (usually the person who proposed the idea, if they're available) and also OKed by the Council. Bottom-liner is expected to commit to a 3-month stint (unless otherwise specified) and to find an assistant, or co-anchor. some monthly compensation may be set by the board, in LPad credits and/or other perks.
bottom-liners shedule meetings & workdays for their group, bring in any new members they choose (as long a person hasn't been barred from the grounds, which is rare), acquire materials, conduct fundraisers - basically run it as they see fit, within their mandate.
Local economy
LaunchPad facilitates barter-based transactions in various ways, including the use of Lpad-$, which can be earned by anchoring a project, or doing things from the task-lists prepared by project anchors and OK'ed by the Director. The residence-mgr and the construction coordinator usually have extensive lists.
Events
Several sorts of events happen at LaunchPad. Fully public events (outdoor only), Salons/houseparties, and invite-only soirees. work-parties, skillshares & craft-parties. Coordinators of regular weekly or monthly events are board members. Events can be produced by LPad crew or space can be rented.
Classes
Classes and workshops are proposed to the Education Coordinator, who either helps develop, schedule, & publicise, or just rents the space to the teacher. First classes to begin mid-March. We plan a wide variety, from metal fabrication, cooking, woodworking, grantwriting, firedancing, grey-water systems, job-seeking training, ceramics, aerial work..
We are actively seeking new teachers! if you have an idea please drop us a line.
